September letter

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

I would like to welcome you to our grade 1/2 class. In this letter I have included some helpful information about our classroom routines and expectations.

SCHOOL SCHEDULE 2012-2013

School starts: 8:40 (door C from the school yard)
AM Recess: 9:55—10:10
Lunch: 11:30—12:25
PM Recess: 1:50—2:05
Dismissal: 3:15 (door C from the school yard)

LUNCH & SNACKS

Please provide your child with a nut-free lunch and snacks. If your child is to go home for lunch, please complete the appropriate form included in your package and you may also notify me with a note, a telephone call or come in to speak with me.

SAFETY

It is school policy for all visitors to enter the school through the main doors at the front of the building and to sign in at the office. This is for us to keep track of the adults in the building for the safety of everyone, students and adults. All doors are locked during school hours.

AGENDAS & HOMEWORK

Our class will be using agendas to foster responsibility and organization skills. The cost is $7.00 and this is to be submitted as soon as possible. Your child’s agenda will be brought home and returned to school everyday and may contain your child’s homework, important letters, forms and notices. Please ask to see your child’s agenda each day and ensure that homework is completed on time and with care. Homework is due the next school day unless stated otherwise. Please write any notes or questions in your child’s agenda in order for us to successfully communicate about your child’s needs and progress.

GYM CLASSES

Gym classes are on Day 4 and Day 5. Students must wear running shoes in order to successfully participate in gym classes. Gym will be taught by Ms. Yuill.
This is going to be an exciting and fun year for all of us. I am looking forward to working with all of you and to learning new things, trying out new ideas and celebrating our successes this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at
416-396-6165 to  arrange a time to meet that is convenient for you.
I hope you had a great summer and I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!

Sincerely,
 Ms. Moledina

Homework

Homework

The first few weeks of grade one and grade two are a time of adjustment.  As a result, I will not assign specific homework.  The most important things you can do at home are to get to bed early every night and eat a healthy, balanced diet and read and talk about books with your child everyday.  Read to your child, have them read to any you, a sibling or a pet – read anyway you like as long as you read, read, read for at least 15 minutes a day!

Additional information about homework will follow in the coming weeks.

Scholastic Book Orders

Scholastic Book Orders

Scholastic book order forms will go home once a month.   Our first order has already been sent home.  This is a great way to provide books for your child at home and help the class earn points to buy books and supplies.  Due dates will be provided on each form.  Thank you for participating in Scholastic book orders!

Welcome

Dear Parents/Guardians

As it seems common these days our weather seems to bounce between frigid temperatures and balmy, summer style days.  Dressing your children each day is a real challenge!  Please try to have your children dress themselves independently.  If you have not done so already please provide an indoor pair of shoes (preferably Velcro or slip-on) for your child to keep at his or her desk.  As well, printing your child’s name on these shoes is extremely helpful.

Thanks

Ms. Moledina

Ready for any kind of weather.
